Lady Bug Mad Cap

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I found the Lady Bug at an offbeat fabric store here in Tucson called SAS. It's basically a big room full of enormous cardboard boxes stuffed full of all sorts of fabrics thrown together, and many other unusual little goodies like the lady bug. It think the red lights up the business-like black and white tweed with a bit of fun. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use lots of pins. The curved edges can get away from you.

What you will need

  • upcycled wool blend suit skirt
  • quilting cotton for lining

Q&A with SueAskirtedlady

jackiconn86 asked:
How did you get one side to stand up?
SueAskirtedlady answered:
The upcycled skirt fabric was a bit stiff and it's lined with quilting cotton, so it stays up pretty well if I just pull it.
Rosa Branco asked:
Hi Sue Great work! Let me know please if you interfaced your plaid fabric? I have some blend wool fabrics to make a hat but seems to me it is very thin, too much soft for it...Thanks...
SueAskirtedlady answered:
Hi Rosa! No I didn't use interfacing on this one. All fabric is different though. So if your gut feeling is to use interfacing for the fabric you have, I'd say go with that.

So adorable
