Jean-ius Jeans

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Just the fact that I made a pair of jeans that look pretty darn good. There is lots of room for improvement on my next pair, but I learned the skills that will allow me to go on to that next pair! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Match the fabric type as close to your model jeans as possible. For example, don't use a stretch fabric if the model jeans are not stretch. The fabric I used has quite a bit more stretch than my model jeans and it makes my jeans (especially at the waistband) a looser fit than the model jeans or my muslin.

What you will need

  • Turquoise Denim (Stretch)

K Lee 2Strings asked:
Beautiful work! It's hard to sew jeans that don't have that 'homemade' look. Very impressive.
ameryan answered:
Thank you - the credit goes to Kenneth King (instructor for the Jeanius class) on this one, for sure!
cecilhe73 asked:
what skill level do you think you'd classify yourself in? what skill level would you classify the project? thanks!
ameryan answered:
mmmmm, I used to sew a lot, but then hadn't sewn anything for over 20 years! I am probably an intermediate+, sewer, out of practice and not very up on new techniques. I would classify this as an intermediate project. I think you would want to have some experience with other pants, zippers, etc. Not a beginner project.
