Grilling Apron - Recycled Materials

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This is an apron for my son who turns 29 next week and is a great cook. He loves to grill so I thought the denim would be a good choice. I just traced another apron on to the denim and cut it out.. Then edged it all around with a zigzag and then straight stitch. All other items are recycled from old jeans. I love the fused pictures which I printed on cotton - a Ninja Turtle from long ago and one of his beer labels - he is a home brewer. The label is a nod to hockey - it is Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be sure to wash the denim before cutting and after sewing the edges so you can cut any threads. Use fabric pens that won't fade or bubble jet to set your printer's colors so the apron can be washed in the future.
