What was your source for this sewing project? Improvisational What are you most proud of? The ultra soft grey chenille upholstery fabric lacks firmness--it was like working with a wet noodle. This presented a problem with the finished bag. The shoulder of the bag collapsed (folded in on itself) as I lifted the purse by its strap. To correct the noodle problem, I fashioned a hidden fabric tube with a 1/4" wooden dowel (approx. 9"in length) and installed it with tiny whip stitches. The dowel support is totally hidden, and corrected the problem. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't give up on a beautiful fabric just because it presents challenges: raveling, noodling, slippery, or requires caution when pressing with an iron. There is always a good solution at hand. When I ran into the shoulder sag problem on this purse, I thought about building cloth dolls--and the dowel support I build into the shoulder, spine, and limbs. And there was my answer.
