Green Bag

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That I did it! It took a while, and I had to unpick some parts to get them perfect, but I'm really happy with the result. I've always been intimidated of zippers, but the silver zipper that I put on the back of the bag was so easy to put in (thanks to the tutorial), that I went ahead and did another one for the inside of the bag. What advice would you give someone starting this project? wash the fabric first, even if you won't wash the bag later - my white lining has green dye rubbing off on it from the bag body :(

What you will need

  • Cotton Twill for the bag body
  • lining and handles - various metal hardware and zippers

Eva testar asked:
You did a very good job. I want to ask you about the inside zipper, did you use one exactly the same length as the fabric with the possibility to open in both ends? Or did you use a longer zipper that you can not open in both ends? And somhow made it function the right way ? Hope You understad what im asking
jstar99 answered:
do you mean the black zipper for the top closing? I was looking for a separating zipper that would fit the top flaps i'd made, but couldn't find one. I ended up getting a separating zipper that was about 6 inches too long, and then I kept the separating part and cut off the top of the zipper and sewed across them to keep the zipper from zipping off the teeth. Hope that helps!
