Giant Squid Pillow

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo 8-foot giant squid pillow Link to website or photo blogs.philadelphiaweekly.com/style/2009/02/12/fridiy-8-foot-giant-squid-pillow/ What are you most proud of? Getting it done only 3 days late. LOL What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's HUGE but it's pretty amazing once it's done. It will take a lot of workspace, and a lot of patience. It's not HARD sewing, but it's awkward and it gets heavy and difficult to manipulate once the stuffing starts to go in. Work slowly and carefully. And it takes a lot more stuffing than you think it will, so plan accordingly.

What you will need

  • polar fleece
  • cotton print
  • thread
  • polyfil stuffing

Your son, my grandson, is a lucky kid. That squid looks like it would be a wonderful neck pillow. --Grandma Kathleen
carelia norton answered:
It would if it were smaller, but it's a great body pillow! :)
peabrain asked:
Do you still have the templates for the pieces, by any chance? It looks like the link is broken and I'm dying to make this. Also, do you remember how much you enlarged the templates? Thanks so much, even if you can't help.
carelia norton answered:
I found a Bing archives photo of the pattern pieces, unfortunately, it's small. http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.607991722295951863&pid=1.7 I can't recall how much I enlarged it (and it may not be accurate to this smaller image, anyway) - the longer tentacle is just about 4 feet long so that may give you a starting point. I am looking through my files to see if I saved off a copy of the pattern or my notes, I will update again if I find those. :)
