Flight Jacket II ( A winter jacket)

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Other What are you most proud of? The jacket turned out well and it fits! What more can a person ask? What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is "Flight Jacket Two" - a pattern from SAF-T-POCKETS Patterns - Patterns with Pockets. The jacket has 11 pockets which adds time to the construction but is well worth the effort. The Insul-Bright adds quite a bit of bulk to the seams - so I cut off the seam allowances and butt the pieces together eliminating all seam bulk. That worked well!

What you will need

  • I constructed the jacket outside with corduroy and a tapestry (which I used for the back panel and the piping. I used Insul-Bright as the interlining - I wanted to block the wind and reflect the heat back toward the inside of the jacket - it gets cold in Halifax NS during the winter.
