What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Sewaholic Hollyburn Skirt Link to website or photo www.sewaholicpatterns.com/product/1206-hollyburn-skirt What are you most proud of? I really like the way it turned out as far as the particular finishing techniques I used. I serged the edges of all of the pieces before I sewed them together, and then I decided to just do a simple turned hem. All of my topstitching, seaming, and serging was done with black thread, so it is next to invisible on the dark wash. The fabric I used for the pockets (Joel Dewberry quilter's cotton) was left over from a crochet hook case and some matching project bags that I made for my mom for her birthday. I used that instead of the denim so that the pockets wouldn't poof out due to the thickness of multiple layers of heavy weight fabric. I freehanded a small denim section for each pocket, serged the edges, and sewed it on top of the outward facing pocket section so that the quilter's cotton would not show above the pocket edge. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a great pattern for somebody who is relatively new to sewing, but wants experience with intermediate-level techniques like zipper installation and pockets. Also, if you have a big butt like I do, using heavy or stiff fabric for a flared skirt WILL make your butt look like it sticks out more. I don't really consider that a problem, though. =)
