Fabric Bowls

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Fabric Bowl Tutorial Link to website or photo katiesquiltingcorner.com/2011/12/corded-fabric-bowl-video-tutorial.html What are you most proud of? When someone tries the technique for the first time and they become addicted to making fabric bowls! I love seeing the results. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure that the cotton clothesline that you get is cotton or a poly/cotton blend. You can find it cheap on Amazon or at some fabric and quilting shops. Use a coupon! I often buy out what Jo-Ann Fabrics has on the shelf when they have a notions 50% off sale because you can get 100yd bundles for $2.50 each. Amazon has 200 yd bundles for about $12 each. Check the cording to make sure it does NOT have a synthetic core because it will be difficult to sew through. Also check your sewing machine to make sure the foot lifts off the bed of your sewing machine at least 1/4" to 1/2" high so that it can fit the wrapped cording. Some of the smaller machines do not have a foot that lifts that high.

What you will need

  • 1/2" - 3/4" strips of fabric from scraps
  • fat quarters or yardage. Cotton clothesline. Sewing thread to match project. 90/14 needle.
