Enchanted Pines HST Diamond Quilt

I used Ann's split top method to make this throw quilt. I quilted the two halves separately, joining them afterwards (that's the photo with all the pins!). Joining the halves was a little tricky, but it turned out perfectly smooth and aligned. The split top method made managing the quilting easier, which I appreciated since this is the largest quilt I've made so far. I'm glad to know this option, and may use it again- I'm happy how my quilt turned out!

Q&A with katieruth

kwojack4202716 asked:
Love your quilt. Am about to start the same design but can't find a placement pattern. Also what size were the finished blocks. Thank you for the help.
katieruth answered:
Thanks! The finished blocks were 7" (or right around 7"- I gave the quilt away as a gift so I can't measure now). I didn't use a pattern- I simply played around with my HST squares until I found a layout I liked. When creating the HST square units, I made each square half brown/half gray (so the dominant color of one triangle was brown, and dominant color of the opposite triangle was gray). That brown/gray contrast was my focus when making each HST square, though there seems to be a light/dark contrast, too, once I put the quilt top together in this design. That's how I made this- I hope that helps!
