Donna Karan Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The detail on the collar and shoulders. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Definitely make a muslin. And even when making the garment from your fashion fabric, hand sew the collar and shoulder before taking it to the machine. The pattern is well drafted and goes together well.

What you will need

  • Stretch cotton poplin purchased from Vogue Fabrics.

Q&A with Cheryl Lemmons

LadyTap asked:
Wow this is stunning!! I will definitely be buying this pattern! The detail work in your projects is really beautiful - love that collar.
Cheryl Lemmons answered:
Have fun with this. I would suggest using a solid. A print would hide all the details.
K Lee 2Strings asked:
Beautiful! This turned out fabulously - so elegant and classic. With the right accessories you can dress it up or dress it down. Love the purple!
Cheryl Lemmons answered:
A friend has made earrings for me to wear with it.

Definitely love the dress! Your work is beautiful! (I would also love to have the body FOR this dress...!) classy and elegant. You're going to feel like a million in it!
Cheryl Lemmons answered:
Thank you! This is a pattern that would work well on more than one body type. It disguises a middle-aged butt quite well.
