Project

Couture Dress

What are you most proud of? This was a rather time-consuming project so I am proud of the fact that I really took my time! I am often in a big hurry to get straight to the sewing machine, neglecting necessary and important steps in fitting and marking accurately. Also, I have always avoided plaids like the plague so I am particularly excited to have overcome this fear of matching. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is my first Craftsy course and it was excellent on all levels! It was nice to be able to watch lessons as many times as necessary. Furthermore, it gives you a deep understanding of couture garments and what makes them so special. While you may not use all of the techniques in all of your sewing, you will certainly find tips to improve all areas of your sewing.

Q&A with Cissie

mile57 asked:
What a fantastic fabric choice! Could I ask where you got your dress form? It would make the fittings so much easier!
Cissie answered:
Hi. I was scrolling though these comments and don't know if I answered your question earlier or not. At any rate, I had my dress form made by Wolff dress forms in New Jersey. I went to a local tailor and had him take all of the precise measurements that Wolff requires. It is a big help for fitting -- but nothing beats having a friend who is knowledgeable fit you!
Kathye asked:
Lovely dress! What is the pattern?
Cissie answered:
It is a vogue pattern that was included with the Craftsy course. Sorry but I don't remember the number.
