Couture Dress

Project Description

I actually used a different (but similar) pattern for this project: Simplicity 2473, hence the different neckline. What are you most proud of? The overall fit and look of the finished project. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I wish there was a better materials list for this class - it doesn't mention that you'll need an underlining AND a lining (I didn't know the difference before the class). The whole process took about 6 months, so I was happy that I had bought material that I really enjoyed working with (except for the lining - it is kind of meh). I learned a LOT in this class and have a new appreciation for quality garment construction, though I think it will be a little while before I make another couture garment again.

What you will need

  • Woven wool fashion fabric
  • silk organza underlining
  • polyester lining
