Couture Dress Number 4

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go for it! None of it is hard; it's just time consuming. If you have questions, ask Susan; she is great.

What you will need

  • This is a combination of Simplicity 2648 for the bodice and Simplicity 1606 for the skirt. I used wool tweed for the dress
  • silk shantung for the piping
  • silk organza for the underlining and silk crepe de chine for the lining.

I love the fabric, the drape and the fit! A great job!
jlgsewsandknits answered:
Thank you!
servareginae asked:
Beautiful fabric! ...and beautiful work! The hand stitching is very nice. The couture method does take time and patience, but it is well worth it.
jlgsewsandknits answered:
Thanks. I never thought that I could ever like handstitching and now I may prefer it.
justbkauz asked:
Wow, you did a great job. I have taken the class but I used the information to make a couture jacket, still not finished but will be soon. Keep on sewing!
