Your coat is awesome. I love your fabric choices.
Ruthann FS answered:
Thank you. I like the fabric too but took a long time to decide what to do with it. Ruthann
Judy Murphy asked:
amazing.........WOW ! How long have you been sewing, and how long did this project take you ?
Ruthann FS answered:
I used Linda Maynard's fitting class first and a muslin to work on the fit. After that I think it was about 2 weeks off and on. I've sewed a lot beginning in the mid 70's then stopped a few years ago. I needed to begin again. Thank you so much for your comments. I appreciate them.

I love your coat! Just beautiful!
Ruthann FS answered:
Thank you very much.
ConnieFL asked:
I just dug out my upholstery fabric to see if I had enough. How much fabric did you use for the main fabric? I might have 2 yards, so it may not be enough.
Ruthann FS answered:
Sorry for the delay - I didn't see your question. The pattern is V8841 - view A. I made a size 16, and for that view it states 3.25 yards of 60" wide. I don't know if I used that much - I'm short. You could lay out the pieces and measure how much fabric you need - or you could use a pattern that uses less fabric - perhaps a short jacket or a vest? Upholstery fabric has weight and warmth.
