Project

Collars, closures and creative seams!

I drafted this semi-fitted blouse with a hidden button placket, princess seams to the shoulder and Mandarin collar. Using instructions and techniques from the "Collars and Closures" class as well as from the "Creative Darts and Seamlines" class and "Designing your own Wardrobe: Tops" class.... all Suzy Furrer's classes. It took me 3 mock-ups to get it the way I wanted it, but definitely worth the effort. I chose to use bias tape to finish the collar and armholes and opted for a contrast color, for some additional character. Because the hidden button placket tended to not lay closed over the buttons, I placed small pieces of stitch witchery in the HBP between the buttonholes to resolve that issue. It isn't perfect, but I learned what to do and not to do the next time.
