Cambodian Pants

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That i was able to actually create a working pattern! These pants are a little unusual in that the front and back are identical, not mirror image. There is a lot of extra fabric from the crotch to the yoke and I had no idea how to recreate that. Steffani made it so easy to understand how to work with the fabric to get a paper pattern What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch the class from beginning to end to get a grasp of the concept. Second time through, take video notes and work with your project as you watch. Don't give up! Sometimes sleeping on it will bring you the answer in the morning, and if it doesn't, Steffani will have the answers.

What you will need

  • leftover fabric from quilting project

Q&A with crochetin

shirleyde1059239 asked:
I don't understand the Cambodian Pants garment. It looks like the leg on the left side is standard and the leg on the right side is cut in at an angle??? I wish I could see a black line drawing with fabric straight line arrow drawn in. It doesn't make sense to me. What is the advantage of having one leg with fabric at a different angle???
crochetin answered:
Shirley, that's what made this project so difficult before taking this class. The front and back of the garment are identical, not mirror image, so BOTH legs have fabric at a different angle. They fit loosely and Brendan says they are extremely comfortable.
