Bright Patchwork Dress

What are you most proud of? The overall look. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Fitting of a sundress is critical, so I'd strongly advise making the bodice in muslin first and get it fitted perfectly for the individual who will wear it.

Q&A with AllThatPatchwor

Siretha asked:
Nice, Looks like stained glass. Did you make the skirt from sewn together quilt blocks or was the fabric all ready fabricated to look like blocks/patchwork? I don't quilt but I'd like to try this dress (I think I could do it ) if blocks are all ready fabricated?
AllThatPatchwor answered:
The skirt fabric was actual patchwork squares with black sashing between squares. Sewing the squares together is really not that difficult.
DorothyJane asked:
This is beautiful. Where can I get the pattern? I would like to make this for next summer.
AllThatPatchwor answered:
I'm sorry, there is no pattern available. It was a one-of-a-kind original I made and sold. I'm not doing clothing for sale any more and didn't even keep notes on my design.
aikat888 asked:
the black lines is separate parts of stuff or is the design of the hole staff?
AllThatPatchwor answered:
The black lines in the skirt are all separate pieces of fabric. I believe these "sashing" strips finished to one-half inch wide. The skirt is made basically the same as a quilt top made of patchwork squares that is set on the diagonal with sashing between patches.
