Bernina -- Wedding Gown

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of how much thought I put into adding details to the gown, especially the thoughtful placement of the lace around the neckline, and the back opening. This flowers on this dress skirt were cut from Alencon lace and placed along the hemline of the garment. Each flower on the bodice and the flowers placed around the hem of the garment were outlined in seed beads and the center of each flower was embellished with flat crystals to produce sparkle. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If sewing for someone else other than yourself, especially if you have never made a garment for them before, take accurate measures, and make a muslin of the garment before cutting the fashion fabric. Make any adjustments needed to the muslin to ensure the fit of the garment. I would suggest if you are making a wedding gown, invest in a dress form. My dress form was useful in the placement of lace flower petals around the front bodice neckline and for placement of lace petals on the back bodice opening. The form was also used as the "hanger" for the garment when I was not working on it. As always, enjoy the process!
