Project

Bernina - a bride's second best friend

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The quality of my workmanship! I am most proud of the sewing job I did on the aprons, both the retro ones and the half apron, and the creativity that went into the 63 hankies. You will see that they are fastened with a "wedding ring" and tied with a bow. All items were sewn in the colors of the upcoming wedding. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Plan your work well ahead of time and allow even more time for monkey wrenches that can be thrown at you from most anywhere. I ordered linen fabric and toweling from onlinefabrics.org. well in advance and did things in stages, for example, I cut all of the handkerchiefs at one time, and then took a break from the project. When I returned to it, I serged the edges while the embroidery machine did its job.

What you will need

  • Aprons: calico prints
  • bias tapes
  • ribbon
  • buttons; Towels: toweling
  • washable stabilizer; Hankies: linen; Threads for all three items
