Baby-Girl-Dress

Would recommend "Heirloom Sewing, Essential Techniques... Class" where it is explained how to create and sew on a curved border. I did not have a pattern for this. The skirt comes from the whole wide of the fabric. For the blouse I try out to help me with measuring an non-elastic shirt and shorten it to the waistline. Unfortunately it comes out too short, so I add two green borders to reach the necessary lengh of the blouse, this match with the border of the skirt.

You Can Make This

with Susan Stewart

  • Any blouse pattern without sleeves shorten to the waistline or 1"above the waistline
  • Fabric fold in the front for the skirt / Fabric fold in the front of the blouse ( here I add some pleats too )
  • Opening at the back with button band.

Q&A with Carine_B

B.Gibson Georgia asked:
Where do I find this pattern (size 2)
Carine_B answered:
Did not have a pattern for this. Start by cut the lengh of the skirt through the whole wide of the fabric , sew on the border, did the embroidering, gathering waistline to the wide of the blouse...sew on the blouse. ( any blouse pattern without sleeves, shorten to the waistline lengh, would be possible ) Fabric fold in the front, button band in the back.
B.Gibson Georgia asked:

B.Gibson Georgia asked:
I have Children's Corner Pattern #77- Louise, I believe it will work perfectly, I just have to work out the scallop spacing and embroidery pattern. Using your instructions and the picture will help tremendously. Thanks so much. Will post a picture if I can figure out how, when finished. Bobby
Carine_B answered:
Hello Bobby, Great! yes this will work perfectly. Maybe it could be a good idea, for small Children sizes, it looks sometimes better when the waistline is 1" above ( to shorten the blouse ) this spend 1" to the lengh of the skirt...this makes a big different at the whole look. But this is not a secret, sometimes pattern for smaller sizes comes with an higher waist line, sometimes not. Please take control before you manipulate the pattern and shorten the blouse part and lenghen the skirt. Greetings Karin ( alias Carine_B.)
