Baby dedication suit (vest & pants)

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo lil mister: vest from old trousers Link to website or photo www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/01/re-purposing-reversible-boys-vest-from.html What are you most proud of? The fact that I decided to do it and DID it, in less than a week! AND the fact that it cost so little (although I did splurge on some brown suede shoes to match for the dedication on Sunday). In fact, sewing for babies is not as finicky as I expected. Now I'm excited to sew for my little guy. It seems girls get all the cute stuff. Well, not anymore! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Keep it basic at first so you don't have a million stitches to rip if you goof up. But honestly, just go for it. Making your children's clothes is so gratifying.

What you will need

  • I used a herringbone suiting fabric I found in the bargain bin at Fabricland! The lining of the vest was made from an old dress shirt of my husband's that had a stain on it. This entire outfit cost less than $5 to make. Booyah!
