Ava's Scarecrow costume

What are you most proud of? using the bulky yarn in place of straw or jute, making sure it didnt itch at the wrists! What advice would you give someone starting this project? using fleece for the costume makes it nice and warm, even at the end of october, if you're from warmer climes, maybe a lighter fabric works better!

Q&A with steelelady

K Lee 2Strings asked:
Oh gosh! Do they come any cuter than this?
steelelady answered:
i don't think so, but i'm biased!
Screaming Mimi asked:
Well I don't know which is cuter....the model, or the costume! Very nice work...all the little details look great.
steelelady answered:
thanks, she is adorable, of course i would think so, being her grandma, but the costume did turn out really well and was pretty simple to put together
everflores228000 asked:
Very cute! I did this pattern (I think it was the same one) for daughter's 2nd grade school play. She looked cute too......lol. BUT I see you were smarter than I was. I like how you did the fleece and rope for the straw. Has to be more comfortable for the wearer. I followed my pattern and used actual straw............duh!
steelelady answered:
my grand daugthers are at the age they tend to get the 'itchies' so i knew i had to substitute the straw!it is a very cute pattern and a lot less time than the dorothy costume was!!
