Art Bag

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The painting/fabric was quite thick in places and therefore difficult to work with. I guess I'm proud that I was able to pull it off even if it isn't perfect. Oh well, I already have pieces waiting for the next one. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time!

What you will need

  • my own painted canvas
  • buttons
  • stitching
  • cord
  • cotton fabric
  • bag hardware

Q&A with Amalia Ariela

Lucille asked:
What a fantastic piece of fabric - great result. A beautiful bag
Amalia Ariela answered:
Thank you, I'm going to wear it today.
Emmely asked:
What a wonderful idea to use a painting as fabric, I think it makes the bag a real eyecatcher!
Amalia Ariela answered:
I'm glad you like it!
Eunique53 asked:
What an amazing idea! I love the look, and it's so original. I dont see any mistakes, either, so it looks perfect to me.
Amalia Ariela answered:
Thank you! I can't wait to start on the next one.
BeaSewGood asked:
I love how creative you were with using the painted canvas for your bag!!! The bag would make a great focal point for a simple outfit. I am curious to know the measurements of the bag. Also, is it a cross-body bag?
Amalia Ariela answered:
Thank you, BeaSewGood. The bag is smallish. It measures 8.5" w x 6.5" high, give or take. And yes, it's supposed to be a cross-body bag (my favorite). Totally hands-free. That's why for the next one I'll only attach one strap. Oh, and also make the bag itself a bit larger.
Brett Bara asked:
This is so cool. I LOVE that you painted your own fabric - that's just awesome. Great job :)
Amalia Ariela answered:
Thank you for a wonderful video :)
