What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Buy some very cheap fabric and do a practice garment first
What you will need
For the muslin
just some old soft furnishing fabric I had lying around. The chopsticks skirt was made with a metre and a half of cotton fabric and some satin bias binding to finish the hem. I did buy two metres of the fabric with the intention of matching up the pattern as demonstrated by Brett
but the pattern repeat was to big and I didn't have enough so I just kind of fudged it. The bubbles skirt was made with some very
very cheap soft furnishing fabric - around £4 a metre in the sale
some buttons and some paper backed fusible interfacing for the applique. For the contrast band and contrast circles I just flipped the fabric over.
