Project

1950s inspired formal dress

What are you most proud of? The fact I made this dress from scratch! This was really challenging as I had never made a pattern (bad idea). Inevitably, I made a lot of mistakes which I had to correct. For instance, I originally intended it to have a sweetheart neckline but it was far too 'gapey' so I had to make it a 'V'! But, all in all I think it turned out well given the circumstances. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Plan, plan and plan again. Or, if you're not experienced in drafting patterns like I was, it is best to use a commercial pattern and alter it, rather than start from scratch ><
