Upcycled leather tote bag sewing pattern A while back, I made diy upcycled leather tote out of a leathercoat, I have been contacted quite a few times over this project, quite a few of my blog followers wanted to make something similar but the common thread was that the project was a bit complicated for some sewers, most people love the idea of turning an old coat into something useful so I decided to make this tote, the design is quite simple but with the addition of the leather the bag becomes a total different item, a more modern urban bag. Size: 17 3/4" (45 cm) wide by 15" (38 cm) tall by 4 3/4" (12cm )deep, the handles are 24" (61cm) long, with a 19" (28 cm) drop and 1 1/2" (4cm) wide. Materials and notions: An old leather coat, or the following pieces of leather: Two pieces of leather of 12" (25cm) wide by 13" (33cm) long (front and back panels) Two pieces of 25" (63cm) long by 3 " (7.5cm) wide for the straps One piece of 8" (20.5cm) long by 5" (13cm) wide for the inside pocket 1 yard 44" wide of heavy cotton canvas fabric 1 yard 44" wide of cotton fabric for the lining Optional: 1 yard of fusible woven interfacing, if you choose a lightweight fabric for the main fabric.
