PATTERN DETAILS

Welcome to the Transit Tote (with Mesh Pouch and Jewelry Valet) - the one tote bag that will hold your essentials while traveling. You can stow your favorite cosmetics and toiletries, tuck away all your sewing notions, and/or stash your lunchtime snack. I have a lot of traveling under my belt - sometimes I'm staying at my friend's house and other times I'm at a tiny little hotel in Europe. But it doesn't matter where I am; I like to keep all my "stuff" in one place so I can pack up and go with little hesitation or worry. So, I designed this with the traveler in mind. You'll easily find all your little bottles in the mesh pockets that line the inside of the tote. The zippered hinged lid makes it easy to get inside and find what you need. You have the option of using one 24" zipper or two 12" zippers (that join in the middle front). This might look complicated - there are a lot of little steps that all come together in the end...and yes, they might not make sense at the time....but just follow along! I created this using my Inside-Out Zipper Technique; in the final step, you'll put three pieces (the lid, the bottom, and the zippered panel) together...with no raw edges. No "birthing" the bag. Nothing. It's a bit unconventional, but once you get it...you'll get it. And you get to sew with paper and tape! I also did what I could to remove as much bulk as possible - I know what it's like to try to sew thick seams! The pattern includes the 14 pages of directions (with full-color photographs), two supplemental tutorials (How To Make and Sew Double Fold Binding and How To Make a Zipper with Double Sliders), and two additional patterns (Zippered Mesh Pouch and Jewelry Valet). The Zippered Mesh Bag is 4" x 8". The Jewelry Valet is It's 4 3/4" x 4 3/4". I take pride in my patterns, so please contact me if you find any mistakes! And please share your final projects. I like to see what you've made! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Comfortable working with zippers Make and Sew Double-Fold Binding SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 6" (tall)
