This bag came about when my sister, Nancy (you guessed it), asked me to design and sew a little cross-body, hipster bag to hold the bare essentials while braving the crowds at Disney World. She gave me the dimensions and bag details she required to hold money, her iPhone, park passes and guides. I hope you find this little guy a pleasure to make, and a convenient purse to add to your collection. This instant download package consists or a 3 page, printable pattern and a 9 page tutorial, with 50 full-colour pictures to help you along your way. I've broken this pattern down, step-by-step, and have included little tips and tricks to help with this and other sewing projects. I have written this tutorial for anyone, even someone who may be sewing this as their very first project. I will even show you step-by-step how to insert a zipper properly, and attach the hardware. You won't believe how simple it can be! This is a simple little bag, with one zippered pocket, one open front pocket, and a generous 48" strap. The body of the bag measures 6"x8".

Recommended with this pattern

  • The following is a list of supplies you will need: -1/4 yrd OR fat quarter OR 9"x21" scrap of fabric you'd like for the exterior. I recommend a woven, not knit fabric -1/2 yrd OR 10"x50" of fabric you'd like for both the lining and strap (again with the non-knit) -7" coordinating bias tape (I like to make my own with the lining can find the free tutorial on my blog, :) ) -matching thread -6" zipper (can be a longer zipper you have one hanging around. just cut it down to size) -2 purse clasps (I like swivel lobster clasps, so the strap doesn't tangle) -paper scissors -fabric scissors (Or rotary cutter and cutting mat. I have included the measurements of the pattern pieces. They're just straight cuts, so you don't have to print the pattern if you don't want to.) -pins -sewing machine with zipper foot, (or a steady hand...and more patience and time than I have) -clothes iron -strap turner (so incredibly valuable if you plan on making more bags on the future)
