PATTERN DETAILS

The Day Hiker Bag Pattern was designed with the hiker in mind! Features include a water resistant lining, an elastic band to hold your water bottle in place, a map/brochure pocket on the front, and another pocket on the back for your smart phone! Instructions are also given for a sandwich/snack bag and the shoulder strap is adjustable - use it for a cross body bag! There is a boxed bottom so that your water bottle sits securely and instructions are given for a fob to hold your keys that is long enough for them to hang securely in the front pocket. This hiker bag is lined with insulated batting to help keep your water cold and the finished size is approximately 12"W x 11"H x 3"D. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 12"W x 11"H x 3"D

Recommended with this pattern

  • Fabric A - 1 yard (Main body of outer bag, 2 outside pockets)
  • Fabric B - 1/2 yard (Front flap, back pocket flap, 2 outside pocket linings, 2 tabs 4" X 4")
  • Vinyl or Laminated Fabric - 1/2 yard (Lining of main bag, outside of sandwich/snack bag) OPTION: Heat N Bond by Therm O Web to make your own vinyl fabric. This comes in a package of 2 yards by 17" and is plenty for this pattern project. Follow the instructions given on the package. If you wish to use this option, add 1/2 yard to Fabric B (making it 1 yard total) and iron-on the vinyl to this Fabric B. You may also use 1/2 yard of a third fabric and use the iron-on vinyl instead.
