Here it is, my PDF tutorial for the Ruffle Hem Skirt. The perfect pretty little skirt. A subtle ruffle hem and a simple elastic waistband make this skirt a sweet and easy project. It's multi-sized and has no pattern pieces - just fill out the simple worksheet to measure, calculate, and cut. This is a bit of a non-traditional way of sewing a skirt, given that the hem is not the last step. I wrote it differently because it's just so much easier to gather the ruffle and attach it to the skirt when it's NOT the last step. The side seam going all the way down to the hem really is not an issue for me - it's all hidden on the inside of the skirt, you know? Another thing that's different about this project is the worksheet you'll find on page 3 of the PDF. I wanted a nice spot for writing down measurements, calculations, etc. I'm helpful like that :) The orange fabric is 100% quilting cotton I bought at the Fat Quarter Shop. It's a "Sunkist" Mirror Ball Dot print from Michael Miller Fabrics. A cotton/poly fabric blend would work well, too. That's what I used for the prototype, my blog post titled: A Ruffle Hem Skirt for Chloe. Don't forget, you can make built-in modesty shorts rather than making an elastic waistband. And yes, I have a Craftsy pattern for that! So get the free Ruffle Hem Skirt PDF, choose your favorite fabric, and have fun sewing! The PDF is an 8-page document with photos and simple instructions. Hope you enjoy it! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY basic math sewing machine use sew a gathering stitch finish seams SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS This project is multi-sized, with no pattern pieces.
