PATTERN DETAILS

The Rose Bud Romper is a very special little summer romper for baby girls from 3 months to 3 years. Frilly and pretty with bow tie shoulders that allow for some adjustment in body length and snap fasteners at the crotch. The neckline and frills are stitched with a fancy machine stitch using glossy embroidery thread to add a special touch. Most sewing machines have a variety of fancy stitches to choose from --- just try out a few on your machine to see which is most suitable. The top stitching is optional. The romper fit is roomy enough to wear a diaper and T shirt underneath. PDF SEWING PATTERN: the pattern can be printed on a desk top printer using 8.5"x 11" / A4 size paper. The pattern file includes a very detailed sewing tutorial with step by step photos. The computer made digital pattern comes as a color coded, full size range nest with seam allowances included. Instructions for printing and assembling the pattern are included. All seam allowances and cutting instructions are marked on the pattern pieces. It's best to use the sewing tutorial on your computer so you can zoom the photos. Only print out the pattern pages. Be sure to read the printing instructions first, they are on the Test Square page. You choose from the full range of Felicity Sewing Patterns at my web site shop and get free patterns and tutorials on my blog page --- http://www.felicitysewingpatterns.com/store BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY EXPERIENCE: Intermediate. There are no buttons or buttonholes and you need only plain sewing skills but with intermediate sewing experience to make the romper; careful attention to seam allowances is important. Follow the sewing tutorial closely for best results. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS SIZES: 000,00,0,1,2,3 --- to fit children 3 months to 3 years. Always check the size chart included in the pattern file for a guide to your correct size --- the chest and height measurements are the best guide, these are body size measurements, ease has been added to the pattern.

Supplies Needed

  • FABRICS: The best fabrics to use are very light weight printed cottons e.g. lawn, fine poplin or poly/cotton. Light weight, soft fabrics work best with the tie-up shoulders.
  • A chart with fabric requirements is included in the pattern file.
  • You will also need 6mm / 1/4" wide elastic for the legs and some 12mm / 1/2" wide bias binding for the leg elastic casings. If you want to use the machine embroidery stitching on the neckline and frills it is best to get glossy machine embroidery thread in a suitable colour. You might also want to add a couple of ribbon bows at the front.
