PATTERN DETAILS

The handle of this tote is braided using the super-cool "mystery plait" technique used in traditional leather crafting. I've adapted it to make in fabric so that the handle emerges seamlessly from the body of the tote, giving a unique designer look & satisfyingly thick, strong handle. The base has a pleated detail to give a soft, up-to-date shape. Please note measurements within the instructions are written in centimetres only (not inches). For a handy online converter I recommend http://www.manuelsweb.com/in_cm.htm The tote is fully lined with an internal pocket & is a great practical everyday size. THERE WILL BE 3 PDF FILES AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD, BUT YOU ONLY NEED 2: -1 Instruction file with 7 pages of clear step-by-step instructions with photographs and drawings. The instructions assume basic sewing experience but are highly detailed & can be followed by an advanced beginner sewer. -2 Pattern files. 1 file is sized for printing on A4 (210 x 297 mm) paper, the other for printing on US Letter (8.5" x 11") size. YOU ONLY NEED TO DOWNLOAD & PRINT ONE. The pattern can be printed on your home printer at 100% scale, taped together & cut. This design would suit medium to heavyweight cotton, canvas, linen, denim, etc. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY trim seams as required make basic pleats fuse interfacing follow detailed instructions stitch at varying seam allowances, including close to edge fold over and iron edges SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 29cm / 11.4" across at widest point 25cm / 10" high from base to opening 13cm / 5" base depth Handle drop 24cm /9.5" see dimensioned diagram in photos

I have been making and sewing since I can remember & have also worked as an accessory designer & pattern maker for a number of years. I love hand-made but don't believe it should equal messy or amateur looking! I want to help others who feel the same achieve a satisfying, quality finish. My patterns are based on the little tips and tricks I have devised over the years to get professional results using a domestic sewing machine and easily available materials.
