This is a pdf sewing pattern. The Go Along Sensory Folding Mat is intended for toddlers, children with autism, adults with dementia or anyone needing practice with motor skills. The inner and outer panels can be made from a variety of fabrics such as denim, terry, satin, minky, fake fur, flannel, canvas, chalk board fabric, taffeta, etc. You could also sew various trims on for additional sensory input. A marble maze, and an eye spy toy are included. There are inner flaps that zip together as well as two flaps that close with hook and loop tape. There is a button and buttonhole section, two different lacing sections and a buckle. Best of all, the entire mat folds up and has a handle to make it portable. There is an inner pocket for storing chalk or additional toys. This is a sewing pattern that you can download. Pattern pieces are given as well as cutting dimensions for all pieces. There is no limit to how much you can add to this mat. If you are an occupational therapist, you could add additional buckles, hooks and eyes, ties, etc. This is a sewing pattern, not a finished item. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Sew a straight seam, insert a separating zipper and make buttonholes.

Recommended with this pattern

  • 3 shoe laces, 12" separating zipper, fabrics with different textures, a 2" wide button.
  • Thread, interfacing. Crinkle paper and chalboard fabric are optional.

I began sewing as a child. Eventually, friends and family encouraged me to sell clothing. From there, I began to design my own patterns. Additionally, I have taught beginner and intermediate sewing and pattern making. When I am not drafting and testing patterns, I also offer custom labels and printing for other small businesses. My sewing and label making businesses are known as "Designing Twining" on the web, Facebook and Etsy. Interested in sewing classes? Visit
