These adorable shorts come in a wide size range and are fast and easy to sew. They can be made with a variety of edge trims --- simply use ready made bias binding or make your own to compliment the fabric you have chosen. Included in the options is a sweet ruffled bias edging. More good news is that they require so little fabric; you will probably be able to use leftovers from your fabric stash. My samples are all made from leftovers. Your girls will love these for summer or you can make them in heavier fabrics for cooler weather and pop some tights or leggings under. PDF SEWING PATTERN: the pattern can be printed on a desk top printer using 8.5"x 11" / A4 size paper. The pattern file includes a very detailed sewing tutorial with step by step photos. The computer made digital pattern comes as a color coded, full size range nest with seam allowances included. Instructions for printing and assembling the pattern are included. All seam allowances and cutting instructions are marked on the pattern pieces. F It's best to use the sewing tutorial on your computer so you can zoom the photos. Only print out the pattern pages. Be sure to read the printing instructions first, they are on the Test Square page. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Suitable for the novice seamstress; only plain sewing skills required with careful attention to correct seam allowances and neatness. Follow the sewing tutorial closely and you will get a perfect finish. If you do not have a serger /overlocker, use the zigzag stitch on your machine to finish the edges of the seams. Do not use pinking shears; the seam allowances are not large enough for this. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS SIZES: 2y, 3y, 4y, 5y, 6y, 8y, 10y, 12y, 14y --- to fit children 2 to 14 years. Always check the size chart before you start. Waist, Hip and Height measurements are the best guide for selecting the correct size for your child. Please note that children over 10 years old can vary greatly in measurement depending on the stage of their development. Some 14 year olds will already be into women's fittings. The shorts are designed to finish at upper thigh length. The length can be adjusted at the hem edge if required, before you cut out the pattern. If you are adding length you will need to increase the length of the bias a small amount as well.
