I recently began a love affair with the Singer Featherweight Sewing Machine. It is lightweight and portable which makes it ideal for taking to classes and it sews like a dream. Unlike newer machines, however, the featherweight does not have a handle for lifting it in and out of its case. Putting it back in the case when I'm done using it is the worst part for me because no matter how careful I am, I always manage to burn my fingers on the lightbulb. I saw patterns on the internet for a little bag but the machine would still need to be lifted into and out of the bag. Having the bag open up and become a sewing mat with a pincushion and pockets to hold my notions is the perfect solution! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Using a sewing machine SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 27" x 31" Open 9" x 11" Closed

Supplies Needed

  • 3/8 yd upholstery fabric for outer bag (58-60" wide)
  • 5/8 yd fabric for lining/sewing mat
  • 1/4 yd fusible Peltex
