This adorable little elephant pin cushion is so easy to make, my 10 year old granddaughter made one for herself! There are so many "looks" it can have depending on the fabric you use and the embellishments, if any, you choose to add. The trunk can be left straight as a "trumpeting" elephant or curled. You can even put a pencil, flower, etc. in the trunk for the elephant to hold. The crushed walnut shell protects your pins and needles from rust and is easy to find in pet shops where it is used for reptile bedding. If you want, you can fill it with fiberfill or cotton and give it to a child as a toy! (For young children, don't put the beads on!) It can even work as a paperweight when filled with the walnut shells. What a cute gift for a coworker! Think about using these as place card holders on the table! Or ornaments on a Christmas tree? The list could go on and on. Give it a try! You can use up your scraps! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY sewing SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS approximately 4" high

I have been fascinated with quilting since I was a little girl sleeping under a Dutch girl quilt my grandmother made. Now that I?m a grandmother myself, I market my original and whimsical designs under the B. Bumble & Co. name. Most of my patterns are designed for a simple freezer paper applique technique, but will work with any method. They are not complicated and most are easy enough for beginners. I have a blog at where you can keep up with my tutorials, tips, and other postings.
