I first became a bike commuter two years ago when I moved to California. My husband and I decided not to buy a car, instead choosing to bike to work. Unfortunately, this limited my wardrobe to pants and wide skirts. The classic short, straight skirt was out. But I wanted it in! Thus I devised zippered flaps and developed this pattern - and tips - to share with the women commuters of the world. Super special biking apparel does not need to be purchased: with a few alterations, you can wear what you already own, making your green commute even more economical! see it in action on youtube: BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY use your sewing machine hem pin fabric together you will sew in zippers, but I will walk you through this with detailed photos so it is ok if you haven't done this already SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS s/m/l - whatever the skirt you chose to convert

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1 skirt to convert
  • 1 fat quarter of fabric
  • 2 nine inch zippers
