Bikeaclava is a fast pattern I whipped up to keep the ears of my kid warm while he biked to and from school in the winter cold. From there, it's turning into the family holiday gift. It's a single layer balaclava in its simplest form; it can get layered and thinned to adjust to bike helmets, big heads, and whatever needs the heads in your life may have. You can reduce this pattern for smaller heads by printing at a reduced percentage - unlike our other parts, our heads are height/weight proportionate. Will take about 1/4 yard of something a little stretchy for the main cap, and a 8 inch by 24 inch piece of wind resistant material. In the photographs, the head is a stretch Lycra and the sides are a rubbery coated fleece. It will take what you have on hand and keep your head warmer. Alternate uses: homemade bathing cap, costume bald cap, fearless World War One Flying Ace helmet. Stay warm, kids! Some of my patterns are on hiatus while I redo their art and PDFs to make them more efficient and useful. Thanks for your interest, and let's make the good stuff better. We can sew our way out of this! Been doing that for over forty years (my momma started me early). I am most interested in functional and efficient patterns that can be made up quickly that result in items that make life easier and are fun to use. Always up for a design challenge, I'm game for commissions. Let's make something good!
