This special smocked doll dress will make a gorgeous outfit for your collectible doll or to give to your daughter or granddaughter. The tucks on the bodice and skirt are easy to sew, but help make the dress stand out. I designed this dress because I was frustrated that the smocked doll dress patterns on the market did not fit the American Girl Dolls properly. I spent hours and hour getting the fit just right. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You will need to know the basic sewing skills used to make a doll dress. You will also need to know something about smocking, how to pleat fabric and basic stitches. The pattern directions are very detailed on the smocking pattern. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Pattern fits 18-inch dolls with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body and was designed on The American Girls Collection(r) dolls by The Pleasant Company. Pattern will be loose on some of the discount store dolls that are similar to the American Girls Collection(r).

I started sewing as a very young child and absolutely fell in love with the craft. As a young mother I made all of my own clothes as well as those for my four children. While my children were in school, I also went to school and became a Licensed Professional Counselor. Later, in life I changed careers and became a computer programmer and then a webmaster. It seems like sewing has been the great passion and comforter during my whole life. It has always been fun to learn or create something new. And it has carried me through the difficult times in my life.
