My friend Alysa was just learning to sew when she announced that the primary reason for her new hobby was to make a ruffled apron. I set out to find a great pattern but didn't like what I found. They all were thin and seemed over-complicated to make: the ruffles and ties were hemmed. I hate hemming. I hate folding up and pressing. Hate it. And I knew that Alysa would, too. And I didn't want this rookie to abandon sewing! I designed this pattern for a confident beginner. It uses a bit more fabric but that's because of how its constructed : no hemming! Plus, the ruffle technique is fairly fool-proof. Just be sure to read my blog entry for a quick overview of the process. And to make things easier, I've written directions specifically for someone who has limited experience Alysa! The apron is one-size-fits-all. I've tried it on women of various sizes and heights and it fit all of them! But it should be fairly easy to adjust if needed. I have added directions on how to make an optional bib from a terry hand towel. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Sew a consistent 1/2" seam SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 20" long x 19" wide
