PATTERN DETAILS

17 page PDF tutorial Using Maggie's own designs for totes, we make many different types of grain bag totes. Most of the bags, of this style, finished size is approximately 9" tall, 32" wide when open and laid flat, and 10" diameter when assembled with bottles in it and Velcro fastener closed. I use various material for the handles. This handle is 52" long and attached with 6" sewn to opposing sides of the tote, leaving 40" side to side which makes for a 20" drop. This pattern is based on the tote pictured that was a custom order for a local brewery using their own bags.

Recommended with this pattern

  • Thread to match or contrast with the feed bag of your choice ( I use quilting thread that is 100% mercerized cotton) Jean material or other cotton material for handle core

I enjoy giving a new life to items that have outlived their usefulness; such as feedbags and coffee bags upcycled into totes; make broom handles into looms then weave rags into rugs. I volunteer at several local organizations where I serve on committees, participate in projects, and teach. I have many hobbies but weaving became my obsession when I realized I could take a discarded broom or mop handle and make a simple backstrap loom that I can weave many useful and beautiful item on.
