Yellow Vintage Quilt

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Nine patch block Link to website or photo amazon.com/nine patch block book What are you most proud of? Finishing this was a big challenge and many times I anted to just put it in a pillow case and forget it but I was in love with the yellow cotton nine patch blocks and knew I HAD to finish it. I would quilt into the night often not even going to bed. I love it and plan to hand it down to one of my many adult children and grandkids. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Buy antique tops is an addicting thing. At one time I had 20 tops. I only finished 3. I donated the rest to a quilting group to finish up. I would bid on them on eBay and win. I won the DWR that is pictured here on craftsy at an auction for $38.00. It is valued now at around $2,000.00. Check it out!

What you will need

  • Vintage top from an antique shop. Had a Polished cotton backing to match. Hand quilted around floral pattern in blue e-floss. Binding is in the same fabric. Measures about 70" by 90". Queen topper.

Q&A with linpiration

snappychick asked:
I just LOVE this quilt! It is fabulous! The yellow really makes it pop! Great job!!! I'm inspired!
linpiration answered:
Thanks but as you read, I did not make this top. It is by an unknown quilter some 70 years ago when polished cotton first came on the scene. This was one of my first quilts before I finished 40 in seven years. Thanks for the comment. Yellow is the bomb!
