Winter's Lane: 80th Birthday Quilt

What are you most proud of? This is an 80th Birthday Quilt for my mom who turned 80 in November. I'm finishing it quite late but I love how it turned out (57" x 78"). The embroidered blocks really make me smile. The piped binding was a last minute change to my original plan. I saw the tutorial on the 52quilts.com blog and had to give it a try! Not bad for my first attempt. I will use this technique again. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure your sashing seams line up as you assemble the rows together. I took my time and it was well worth it! Gail's class and advice were so valuable as I put this quilt together.
