Winding Ways

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Wheel Of Mystery Link to website or photo flynnquilt.danemcoweb.com/shop/category/pre-cut-kits/ What are you most proud of? The layout... I purposely laid the pieces out to emphasize the light and dark. This way the circles are more pronounced. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to piece curves... they really aren't difficult at all. If you ever did any garment sewing you will be able to do this no problem!

What you will need

  • 100% cotton Batiks were used in this project.

Q&A with Jackie Kunkel

Ruth253 asked:
Did you hand piece this? I love it, but have difficulty doing hand work with my arthritis
Jackie Kunkel answered:
No this was all done by machine. A cinch, since the pieces were pre-cut. No hand work here! :)
Sarah Becker asked:
Jackie, of all your quilts this is definitely one of my favorites. Just stunning. Love the colours and how effectively you've used the light and dark. I've never considered buying a kit before but you have me very tempted!
Jackie Kunkel answered:
Thank you! Funny, I probably would have not purchased it either, but since it was given to me, it was very intriguing and I had to do it! Would totally make this again. In fact, I have one in progress that is all 30s repro fabrics. I say go for it!
andibowden68 asked:
I just bought the templates for this pattern...love it....hope mine comes out as nice as yours .....I'll probably start with a nice small one first and see how it goes
Jackie Kunkel answered:
I know you will love it! It goes together pretty easily. I would love to see your project when it is all completed!!
andibowden68 asked:
I have sewn curves but find that I have more squaring to do than with straight lines...I'm hoping that's normal....the "Little Ruthy" project I posted was curved pinwheels...I love curves
Jackie Kunkel answered:
Yes, I did notice your "Little Ruthy" project when I popped over and was impressed. My first thought was that you would not have much of a problem with this Winding Ways quilt. The best advice is slow and steady and you will be fine.
innerwave asked:
I love this pattern and the aquarellic look of the colors you used. Thanks for sharing.
Jackie Kunkel answered:
So happy you like it!!!
