William's Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This was the very first quilt I machine quilted on the machine quilting frame. It's a king size quilt, and it seemed like my thread broke or the bobbin ran out on every single square at first. Also, I had NO IDEA what I was doing. But I stuck with it and finished it and gave Will the quilt for Christmas. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're learning how to machine quilt, don't make a king size quilt your very first project! :-)

What you will need

  • Cotton fabrics
  • warm & natural batting

Q&A with Marie Flannery

sharmacdonald asked:
love this one!! Great job
Marie Flannery answered:
It's definitely a little crazy ... but it suits Will ... he's kinda crazy, too! LOL
desna asked:
This is another gorgeous quilt, I have only done a little machine quilting but it was a bit of a disaster, my lines all over the place... they were meant to be straight. I am so impressed with you lovely workshop too, I have taken over our dinning room!
Marie Flannery answered:
I started out in a little alcove upstairs and have migrated into the "guest" bedroom ... eventually quilts will take over the entire house! LOL P.S. I absolutely cannot quilt a straight line on the machine quilting frame. If I want straight lines, I have to take it to my regular sewing machine. So I tend to do "squiggly on purpose". :-)
