Project

Wallace's Lone Star

What are you most proud of? The points on the star look pretty good & I got yet another opportunity to practice my free motion quilting (have a ways to go there). Don't you love that black stipple print? Looks stippled yet I didn't have to do it! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I definitely would use spray starch/sizing on fabrics before cutting if I did this again. I added a step to her method for pinning the points. When I have the first pin lined up straight I use another pin to secure the fabrics. That way I don't disturb my position pin. It seemed to help. I also marked the quarter inch seam spot on each fabric.

Q&A with Darns

Surfside6 asked:
That Wallace is one lucky person....excuse me, dog. Not that he knows he's a dog, right? Love the Scottie fabric and the backing is perfect. Good job on the whole thing, Darns.
Darns answered:
Thank you! Not that he's spoiled or anything - he's also known as His Dogship or HRD (His Royal Dogness) - I am merely the supplier of food & chief door opener
Surfside6 asked:
Thanks for the hint on the starching. Anxious to start one of the projects when I get this cast off my arm, and more odds and ends finished up.
Darns answered:
Cast!!?! Yikes!!
Karena asked:
Love the whole "darns" thing!
Darns answered:
Thank you!
Pam NZ asked:
Wallace is one very lucky lil chap, but then it is hard work supervising ;-) I have been dithering about whether or not to sign up for this class... it's not as if I've got very far with ALL my others LOL but you and Wallace have pushed me over the edge with your Lone Star pampered pooch quilt. My bichon Sassy says hi to Wallace, she thinks he's one very cool dude and eagerly awaits the photo of him on HIS quilt. We both adore your fabric choices too Wallace... and well done to your mother for making such an awesome job of your quilt.
Darns answered:
Thanks Pam & Hi (woof!) to Sassy from Wallace - could not resist the Scottie fabric
clotheshorse asked:
That is adorable, I love it! I'm sure Wallace will approve :)
Darns answered:
Thanks! He likes lying on any quilt he can!
