Vintage quilt 2

Project Description

What was your inspiration? My mother pieced the top in 1960 or 1970. She worked in the 1950s as a seamstress in a shirt factory and had accumulated quite a stash of scraps. 40+ yrs. later I finally completed this one and passed it on to my grandson who absolutely loves it.. I designed the label on the back with the help of a friend.

Q&A with DorisO

gfcupcake asked:
wonderful quilt. I am having such a time finding 50s style fabric for a project I want to do.
DorisO answered:
I used the following link and typed in "vintage fabric" They have 45+ pages that might be useful. There's also "Aunt Grace" fabrics but I believe they're from the 1930's era. Thankfully, all the tops I have were already pieced so I didn't have to search for any. BTW - and to think I thought they had to be the ugliest quilts I had ever seen. I told my husband he could use them when he changed the oil in the car! I finally realized how precious they were and absolutely love them. Love your quilts, especially Memories.
