Untraditional "Traditional" Log Cabin

What are you most proud of? The selection of fabrics. This quilt required a minimum of 14 fabrics. It took hours to make all of the selections and I am very pleased with the look. The person ordering the quilt has a very traditional bedroom, but I wanted this to also be a bit untraditional in the flavor of the fabrics. If you could see each and every fabric up close, you could see some very untraditional choices were made. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you don't plan to use Fassett fabrics as outlined in the pattern, select ONE focus fabric and let that lead you to all the other fabrics. I choose to repeat the focus three times to make sure the quilt was grounded with that pattern and to work with the designs in the bedroom drapes. Also, PLAN AHEAD and make sure you have enough fabric for each round, especially if you have to add rounds like I did.

Q&A with Copper Top

Ann Petersen asked:
Just beautiful! You are right that your fabric selection is superb and your quilting really enhances this beautiful piece!
Copper Top answered:
Thank you, Ann. My favorite new FMQ pattern is the end to end leaf pattern you taught in Continuous Line Quilting. I also used it on my "Equality" quilt. Fills up so much space and have movement. Thanks for all you have done to improve my quilting.
