Project

Three Kings Christmas Mug Rug

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I have had the gold thread in my sewing rack for years and find little use for it but it has really added to this mug rug. This pattern is from a collection of ten seasonal patterns - I think it is my favourite in the booklet - I say 'think' because I have enjoyed designing and making all of them. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Place the middle king first and then position the other two either side. If you are new to applique or mug rugs then cut your background rectangle larger than needed and trim it down to size once all the applique is done. Have fun with your fabric choices - break out the Christmas patterns with gold thread running through. This pattern is the perfect opportunity for playing with charm packs. (I used 'Round Robin' charm squares by Moda for the gowns and headwear.) But above all else - have fun.

Q&A with The Patchsmith

squashpatch asked:
This is really nice just as a quilt.
The Patchsmith answered:
It is easy to add quick-corner triangles to the back of any mug rug or mini quilt so that you can hang it. I have a post on my blog (http://thepatchsmith.blogspot.co.uk) for 1st November 2013 that tells you just how to do that.

so sorry I ordered this pattern and just realized it is a HAND APPLIQUE pattern. I was looking for an embroidery machine mug rug is there anyway I can return this pattern and get my money back. I have no use for a hand pattern have no idea how to hand sew this. Thanks
The Patchsmith answered:
The patterns are suitable for hand or machine applique. If it is still not suitable please let me know via email (thepatchsmith@gmail.com) and I will arrange for a refund. Kind regards Amanda a.k.a. The Patchsmith
